Alice : Does anyone know if the concession charges were the norm in the situation? I'd never heard of it, but that means zip.
Guest_5813 : But did Diamond Creations decide to bilk the community on their own, or did Ann Riedesel or Larry Pettingill rubberstamp it? Is the Post Register investigating this? Has anyone from the air show apologized for how they behaved Saturday?
Guest_91 : greedy crooks, i hope the Chukars drop them after seeing how they hurt the community on saturday
Guest_91 : Diamond Concessions aka Diamond Creations is also the Melaleuca Field concessionaires, a utah-based business
Guest_1981 : Pressed the send by mistake. Nice city, nice people. that's the message to project. Be happy. You could be living near D.C. as we do - traffic, people, pollution, politicians and no mountains.
Guest_1981 : My wife and I are visiting Idaho Falls and we are pleased with the people I've met and
Alice : I heard about the concessions thing and I hadn't ever heard of that arrangement before. I thought concessions just paid a flat fee at events.
Guest_2289 : Still just punks, the lot of you.
Guest_4531 : I heard that report too, and I believe they said "Diamond Concessions" They charge 35% for the food but drinks have to come through them, and Diamond set the price on drinks.
Guest_91 : local news reported a third party vendor forced the air show vendors to raise their prices 35%, what is the name of that greedy third party vendor? is it locally owned or out of area?
Guest_1169 : yahoo the recent comment button is working and takes me right to the ones I haven't read!
Guest_738 : Went to see the Angels practice on Friday. Went there with my work. Nice!
Guest_738 : No the accident was on Holmes Avenue. Which will now be even more unsafe.
Guest_3069 : you can also complain directly to Larry Pettingill the person in charge of concessions at 208-390-5388
Guest_3069 : if your upset about the air show problems (water debacle, price gouging, problems leaving and returning, shuttles) complain directly to Ann Riedesel the show chairperson at 208-569-6320
Guest_389 : Great airshow on Sunday. Unlike Saturday, water was allowed in. Beyond that the prices for drinks and food were ridiculously high. I understand businesses operate for profit, but the prices charged were totally out of line. And if you wanted to leave the airshow grounds, there was grumbling at the gates about doing so and wanting to get back in. What's up with that? If you buy a ticket for an all-day event, you own a license to attend the event "all-day". Right?
Alice : I had the greek food too because it was about the only selection that had any veggies, but I was very happy with it. Event food is always pricey, unfortunately.
Guest_3181 : We went on Sunday too. Got 3 Greek salads and 2 sodas for $44.00 - felt like we were eating at an airport. But the airshow was great! Hot though.
Alice : We went to the airshow today and they had announced in the PR that they were allowing people to bring water in. There were also water stations where you could re-fill for free. It was a great show!
Guest_2286 : Just got back from the air show. It was awesome. Whoever decided to dissallow even water or ice being brought in: SHAME. I doubt the concessions would have lost any revenue if people had been allowed to bring in their own water. Although I didn't see the long lines today (Sunday) that I heard they had the day before, at $2.50 a bottle, and soft drinks at upwards of $3-$5 (snowcones were $5!), and food between $5-$7 (a pizza was $18!) a family of four could easily have spent over $60 on lunc
Guest_3181 : 738 I'm sure if you get a copy of the police report you will see the reasons why - ie if the accident was on private property - just get the report
Guest_1644 : Redbox now rents BluRay DVDs. 1.50 a night.
Guest_738 : I'm disapointed with the police here in I.F. They said that they would remove anybodies belongings if they tried to stake out for the fireworks. Seems like they didn't keep their promise. Also, last year my friend was rear ended and the officer that came out didn't site the driver that hit her.
Guest_2025 : I don't know, but I will tell you this. If I was at a picnic and some stranger came at me with water. I would be thoroughly soaked and definitely irritated! Lol.
Guest_3069 : they could smell fun brewing in their town and they didn't like it one bit
Guest_3069 : the Rexburg police cracking down on a 'water fight' demonstrates the ridiculous control that mormons like to practice
Guest_3069 : guest4934 - yeah, and chase those darned kids off your lawn too!
Guest_1644 : are the Rexburg police really that bored? Or maybe Rexburg doesn't have any crime so they have to resort to picking on college kids. Ridiculous.
Guest_1644 : I'm utterly shocked that the Rexburg police would prevent some college kids from having a water gun/water ballon fight at a park! All they wanted to do was blow off some steam and have some fun trying to beat the heat.
Guest_4934 : To the kids in Rexburg at BYU-I who wanted a water fight: Go to your rooms! You all have attitude problems. You might get dinner if you're lucky.
Guest_4885 : thank you to whoever started that new 92.5fm radio station. A station that doesn't play country, what a concept!
Guest_26 : One of the reasons I raised my kids here.
Guest_550 : well, 1739 make sure u take 2 with u when u go fishing. Otherwise, u won't have any beer left! Snicker.
Guest_1739 : the reason I moved here
Guest_550 : mormons~~one of the reason's I left IF after high school. They are so different in other parts of the country!
Guest_2475 : I know some mormons who moved here from California. I laughed out loud when they said they didn't like it here because it was "too mormon."
Guest_4911 : And not all mormons are the same
Guest_4911 : I've lived in other cities where Mormons are real kind, honorable, generous, and don't pass judgment. But in Idaho Falls and Pocatello, Mormons are more like you are going to hell, we are better then thou, and excommunication is always a prospect for silly sins. The word Saints in there name, seems hypocritical to me. Especially since Jesus said to follow his ways, who is to say exactly what was our lives should act, according to metaphors rampant in the scriptures. The LDS people are very dif
Guest_26 : 2174, your comment is just juvenile as probably you are. Grow up!
Guest_26 : 473, my religion is in the forefront of my life, and how do you know whether or not I live all its teachings? I don't pretend to be perfect, thats why my religion is so important, it keeps reminding me of my faults and my need to become better.
Guest_2174 : This is america, we have a right to hate mormons if we want to, so back off!
Guest_437 : um.... i never wanted "them" too and i never said that all i hear is bashing.... but were the "mean people, just liberal-minded, mormon hating, venemous folks with nothing better to do with their time." you know it just rediculous why does your relgion have to be the forfront of your life if you never live to all the teaching... at the final end you were exactlly the same as everyone else... but your morman... i travled back east and the mormans were low numbers and they were amazing to hang
Guest_26 : Wow, really 437. "Mormons bashing non_mormons" wouldn't that be a role reversal. Nice try, just not happin. Just because mormons don't bend over to your wishes doesn't make it bashing.
Guest_437 : You know all i ever hear anymore is "mormans bashing non mormans for speaking their mind... but you(mormans) are the same way.... bashing non mormans sorry we dont fit your standards... but you know thats not very "christ like"
Guest_4064 : Kudos to_4934. Well said!
Guest_3037 : Not uninformed, mean people, just liberal-minded, mormon hating, venemous folks with nothing better to do with their time. If there was a valid argument that something had been done wrong, there'd be a valid discussion. But some people just want to hate.
idtguy : The question is did the tree scream
Guest_1715 : Some of you people are just uninformed, ignorant, mean people. Mr. Vandersloot is far from "sick" and treats his employees very well. I should know, three of my children work for him and have nothing but praise for him. Stop hating just because he is successful.
Guest_4934 : Verily, verily it came to pass, the mighty King V spoke...and the trees moved...and it shall surely come to pass, words will be spoken and mountains will be leveled. All things according to the great and noble prophet Vandersloot. But, if the children of men can't see...thou shalt have patience and longsuffering. (Or move to a better location.)
Guest_3730 : "next"
Guest_3730 : News for you folks. People cut down trees all thetime. It was on private property. Get over it already. LOL
Guest_3730 : NOOO not the treeeeeee!!!!! LOL
Guest_1644 : If everyone cut down a tree along the greenbelt in order to have a better view of the show, we'd have one tree-less greenbelt. As 342 noted, since Frank has donated trees to other organizations over the years, i guess thats ok. After all he does so much for the community. Whats one tree and a family a birds in the grand scheme of things?
Guest_1644 : As for the tree, it wasn't Franks. It was on the Shilo Inns property and last I heard, that's one property killer Frank doesn't own. You people that are defending this man seem to miss the point of this story. The man threw a hissy fit and had a tree, that housed a family of birds mind you, cut down in order to have a better view of the fireworks.
Guest_1644 : guest 2474, you obviously haven't been on this site long. If you had you'd know it's far from politically correct. What's nausiating is political correctness itself. PC-ness has gone completely too far in this country!
Guest_738 : What do you mean it was his tree? So if Frank killed his own offspring would it be okay. I'm beginning to think this man could get away with anything. I believe what they say in the Bible; money is the root of all evil. This has nothing to do with being PC.
economist184А : Здарова. В общем курсач завалил, но до осени нуна забабахать, а то в армию заберут. Подскажите где инфу добыть. Вот нашёл немного движение инвестиций. Посоветуйте ещё чегонить.
Guest_1698 : Last week at the park it was a guy covered in tattoos and a girl in her 20s who obviously thought their kids were more of a nuance than anything else. Some people deserve to have their kids taken away.
Guest_1698 : Did anyone hear about the infant that was found in the canaal? If you ask me there are many parents around who are not fit to be parents. I see a bunch of people at the ifs every year that treat their children like crap.
adolfkinos :
Guest_1450 : I am in no doubt his tree removal was only because he is rich and think his status makes him better then thou, to cut down a tree. He is a sick man, not only for treating his employees as crap, but because he thinks he is the number one man to to whatever he wants, including but not limited to do as he pleases. Sick he is, just sick. Get with the real life VanderSnoot and get a real job! What about the birds in the nests of the tree...where and how will they fly to a new tree, they die first, th
Guest_2474 : The political correctness on this site is nausiating! It was his tree. It was in the way. He had his own tree removed. Big deal. So many pathetic haters here. Get a life. Make your own fortune, then you too can buy a tree and cut it down if you want.
Jazmin : HIIIIIIIIIIIIII
Jazmin : hiii IDAHO FALLS LOL
Guest_342 : Frank "bird/tree killer" Vandersloot gets what he wants and nobody can do anything about it. Gotta love the kind of power this man wields over this town. When I grow up I want to be just like Frankie V the tree killer. He's the man!
Guest_342 : Channel 3's website said his excuse was that he's donated thousands of trees to organizations over the years and so that made it ok. He didn't mention anything about the death of the baby birds that had their nest in the very tree he had cut down, but I'm sure he's donated dozens of birds to various organizations as well.
Guest_342 : The point is Vandersloot had it cut down because it blocked his friends view of the fireworks. I bet if I took a chainsaw to the tree that was partially blocking my view of the fireworks, I would have been arrested. But because it was his fireworks show it was ok.
Guest_4401 : Isn't "rich" relative?
Guest_738 : I doubt your rich!
Guest_2474 : I'm rich and I don't think I can "do anything I want". Get over the hate the "rich" crap.
Guest_3037 : We have to stop this inhumane treatment of trees... We need trees! People should be forced to keep their trees. It's not like trees grow on trees or anything. wait. did that come out right?
Guest_3037 : Oh no!!! A tree was cut down??? on private property??? How dare they cut down their own tree! LOL
Guest_2351 : Yes, it's true, and it was on the news. Tree killer VanderSnoot!
Guest_4934 : I'm stumped about the tree. If it's true, we should all get fired up. The birds will just have to wing it. What a worm he is! RUSH to The Trees.
Alice : Has there been any proof that this actually even happened, and if it did, if the tree was removed for visibility? Seems sketchy...
Guest_342 : Wouldn't want them to move to a better viewing spot like the other 99+ thousand people had to do! Only a looser would cut down a tree and kill the nest of birds in order to watch a stupid fireworks show.
That's your typical spoiled rich person though. They think just because they have money they can do what they want.
Guest_738 : I don't condone a tree being taken down unless it's for the wrong reason as this is.
Guest_738 : You may be able to replant a tree but to take one down just to see fireworks is not right. I'm not a tree hugger just a tree lover. I don
Guest_2211 : New poll please.
hotprice129 :
Guest_1698 : Great show. I loved it.
Guest_1698 : Great show. I loved it.
sassy.sunshine : anyone ever been to "movies under the stars" sponsored by the parks & rec dept? it's at melaleuca field tonight, just wondering if it's worth my time
Guest_3069 : i'm not a tree killer, just a tree rapist
Killer of Trees : Own anything made out of wood? Then you too are a tree killer-so what, go plant one. It's not like we're talking about a Redwood here
Guest_985 : Get over the stupid tree thing. Trees can grow too big for where they planted. They can also be replaced. Birds die all the time. I'm suspicious about the birds as they should be big enough to leave the nest by now anayway. STOP HATING! Grow up.
Guest_4099 : Tree killer AND bird killer.
Guest_1341 : what date is the next races at noise park
Guest_738 : Frank Vandersloot, (Tree killer)!
Alice : I'd rather see parents paying more attention than stopping the practice altogether.
Guest_318 : But it is something to be aware of on streets with fast moving traffic
Guest_318 : While I personally don't like the candy throwing thing because of that, I don't think it should be discontinued.
Guest_318 : My sister was hit/killed by a car when she was 11 years old the day after a parade in front of the house. From what I was told she was just picking up candy on the sidewalk and then darted across the street when some other kids pointed to alot more candy on the other side.
Alice : I thought I read that the little boy that got run over by the float was getting out of the vehicle pulling the float.
Guest_228 : I heard Vander"Snoot" had the Shilo Inn take down a tree at the freedom celebration, just because it was in his way. Figures as much.
Guest_3352 : And now the question is if there'll be a lawsuit. Money hungry parrents - lawsuit, responsible parrents - take responsibility for not watching their children and keeping them at a safe distance.
